Pondicherry is an old French colony, which still retains some of its colonial atmosphere – with French bakeries and restaurants and many Indians actually speaking French. The next day, we visited Sri Aurobindo’s Samadhi and St Mary’s Cathedral, both worth visiting. Sri Aurobindo started life as a journalist and an anti British demonstrator. Later he wrote prolific works on the synthesis of Yoga, Science and Philosophy. He is very much revered in Tamil Nadu and in particularly Pondicherry. His Samadhi has a constant flow of visitors and has an ambience of peace and presence. posted by Russellji at 6:57 PM Perth, Australia
