Institutionalised deafness of the new left

"A critic cannot offer counter arguments against any Postmodernist statement using scientific evidence and methodology because the criticism itself would be rejected as a product of elitism." - p12, Snakes in the Ganga by Rajiv Malhotra & Vijaya Viswanathan.
This captures so elegantly the institutionalised deafness of the new left. They do not acknowledge facts. The old left would agree on facts. Funniest part is that these people think that the religious ones are blind followers. Most religions are far more rational.
Most religions minimise the article of faith. For instance Hindus believe in Vedas or God or karma or dharma (externally it seems that these are different, but it can be shown that belief in one means belief in all others). Muslims believe in Quran and so on.
On the other hand for the postmodernists and post-structuralists, everything that the high priests say has to be agreed to. There is no freedom to disagree. For everything, there is a toolkit. Confused? Throw hyperlinks like Whataboutery.
Otherwise intelligent people cannot offer a coherent argument based on facts. They first wave hands, then hurl accusations (hyphenated labels) and then stop engaging. Utterly incapable of human-like interaction in matters of importance. I pray for an early end to this disease.
Must read book 'Snakes in the Ganga' by , it covers role of Indian billionaire too in addition to Soros & global play
There is a recent trend to demean every modern Indian philosopher by believers of an alternate philosophy. Criticism is fine and acceptable but the allegations of ulterior motives on Kabir, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Tagore, and Gandhi are totally misplaced and should be avoided.
The quickest way to spot a nincompoop with a veneer of erudition on Hindu Twitter is to see someone arguing Raja Ram Mohan Roy wanted to see Hindus accept Christianity, as he did himself (he did not). To be fair, sometimes this argument is just motivated and not thanks to idiocy.
Roy was operating 200 years ago in a defeated India with British colonialism being more intrusive than even Turkic ones due to better state capacity. In that milieu, he cleverly used the idiom of the coloniser to reform and strengthen 'Hinduism' (a term he may have popularised).
Terms like Unitarian were used as a juxtaposition to Trinitarianism, as a Tu quoque to the missionary's boast: a boast that he undermined most cleverly emphasising the monism inherent within many Vedic traditions. Unitarian Universalism have now been used by US Hindu Congressmen.
If we go without the context in a mindless literalist fashion, you will end up seeing the praise Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj offered to the Mughals before Aurangzeb (and not just Akbar's later reign). But one has to read between the lines. "Gotcha" screenshot-ism doesn't cut it.

iconoclasm is necessary. there are many who are lionized, even beatified, far beyond their objective impact/value. some were built up so much both by brits and their leftist descendants that it makes them ipso facto suspect. why them, and not others?
Bullying, dirtying, crowding, disturbing and disobeying are tactics employed to test the well meaning world by a section that hates peace, freedom and transparency. Tolerant societies end up as vegetables that's crushed at the will and pleasure of the marauders.
keeping an open mind in these troubled and very divisive times is not an easy feat... people from history may not seem what you read or heard, but they still may be remarkable. or vice versa.

For the first time, it is possible to see the quantum world from multiple points of view at once. This hints at something very strange – that reality only takes shape when we interact with each other. Learn all about it in today's #PhysicsWeek long read

These are just a few ideas; there culd be other ways to celebrate secular festivals that reflect the values, beliefs of atheists. Important to create an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where people from all backgrounds can come together to celebrate their common humanity.

1. Reason Day: Celebrate the power of rational thinking and critical analysis. This festival could involve debates, lectures, and discussions on topics such as ethics, philosophy, and politics.
2. Nature Day: Celebrate the beauty of nature and the need for environmental conservation. This festival could include outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and tree planting, as well as educational programs on climate change and conservation.
3. Art and Culture Day: This festival could celebrate human creativity and artistic expression. Activities could include music concerts, film screenings, art exhibitions, and poetry readings.
4. Science Day: Celebrate the wonders of science and the achievements of human intellect. This festival could involve presentations, discussions, and exhibitions on topics such as astronomy, physics, biology, and other scientific fields.
5. Humanism Day: This festival could celebrate human values, such as empathy, compassion, and cooperation. Activities could include volunteer work, community service, and fundraising for humanitarian causes.
23rd march and 22nd September? Winter and summer equinoxes! Comfortable temperatures, neither hot nor cold, neither rainy nor windy neither too short days nor too short nights. Plus supported by science and geography.
We do celebrate non-religious festivals, like the South Asian NYDs and harvest fests. In Bengal, Tagore's birth anniversary is celebrated. We also celebrate religious festivals in a secular manner. Eid, Christmas, Diwali (and Durga Puja in Bengal) are not exclusively religious.
NEHRU'S HINDUNESS: BJP's propaganda machine maligns India's first and longest serving PM as not only non-Hindu but also anti-Hindu. The truth is otherwise. And that truth can catalyse a constructive debate to promote national unity. My article at The Indian Express.
Many are surprised I praised for his articulation & mental clarity at the #KarnatakaRoundtable of #IndiaToday on #KarnatakaElections2023 . Am specific on these two aspects. His ideology, character, allegations & party position on various issues deserve separate views
RRMR wanted Western ideas to enter India so as to enable us Hindus to accept the good in them and evolve ourselves. No one can seriously argue,as has tried to do,that all that was indigenous in Hindu civilization (eg Sutee, human sacrifices, the 'Kulin' system of unbridled polygamy, child marriage etc) were good and all Western Christian ideas were bad.
RRMR's initial education was not in English but in Farsi; but he had the clarity of vision to see that it would be much more profitable for Hindus to learn English rather than Farsi.
But no mortal can be 100% correct. Because he said such things (or that he allegedly had connections with the British opium trade) do not detract to any significant extent from the greatness of the man.
Nowhere have I argued that Sati, child marriage, etc. were good. I quoted RM Roy’s OWN words from an official Statement to British Parliament where he clearly wants future India to be fully Christian, English speaking & anglicized by the gradual influence of European settlers.
Equality and excellence are opposing values. A goal of “equality of outcomes” aims to reduce society to a uniform level of mediocrity. No civilization can flourish with this, nor can an individual creativity or enterprise blossom.
>>Equality and excellence are opposing values. NOT equal does NOT mean higher-lower or discrimination. It means everyone is unique and different. Be it lang, culture, tradition or even region etc. Our ancestors created "Sampradayas" based on this uniqueness.
Equality implies equality of status and opportunity. It does not mean making every individual forcefully equal.

Being the Founder of Savitri Era Religion since 2006, I respect no other religion in consonance with Sri Aurobindo's prediction but tolerate them in terms of the Indian Constitution. I consider all religions as superstition and concocted history which provide social entertainment.
