India 26th November update: Time is passing by very fast over here…I have been in Pondicherry for more than three weeks, only one more to go. Pondicherry, or in short Pondy, is an excellent place! It is a small city, with three main parts (in my way of seeing it…) – the Ocean and its relaxing promenade, the Ashram, and the city centre.
The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is very dominant here and is in great contrast to the city centre that is a typical south Indian town. The Ashram consists of many buildings that include schools, a college, joint dining room, etc. The roads are wide, most buildings painted grey and white, very peaceful, few people, etc. Last week I visited the Ashram main building on the day that one of the founders of the Ashram, known as the "Mother" died. On this day thousands of people visit her room. (www.sriaurobindoashram.org/ashram/mother/index.php). "Mother" is famous for her writing such as many wise sayings and even names for hundreds of flowers – names such as "inspiration", "prosperity", etc. posted by Mark Segal at 4:44 AM
