Peter Heehs is studying and practising Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga

Comment posted by: RY Deshpande Re: An Open Letter ... Manoj Das’s Disastrous Advice

Manoj Das Gupta, Managing Trustee, Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust, wrote on 21 June 2010 a letter to the Regional Registration Officer, Pondicherry, for the extension of the visa of Peter Heehs by five years. This looks strange, to say the least. He had asked Peter Heehs to stay away from the Archives a few months ago, but did not officially assign work in any department of the Ashram. Now here’s a letter of recommendation! If Peter Heehs is here for the purposes of “studying and practising Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga", as the letter states, we do not know in what exact capacity he is here—as a private individual or as a member of the Ashram. It is obligatory for the Managing Trustee to clarify the point. ~ RYD

Birth anniversary celebration of Sri Aurobindo in Puducherry

A large number of people from different parts of the country today thronged Sri Aurobindo Ashram here on the occasion of the 138th birth anniversary of the saint philosopher.

Followers of Sri Aurobindo sat in meditation before the samadhis of him and The Mother (his spiritual collaborator) and also visited the room where the saint philosopher had carried on his spiritual works.

Aurobindo, who founded the ashram in 1926, had evolved a new method of spiritual practice, which he called the Integral Yoga. He died on

Even now things can be mended

An Open Letter to Manoj-baboo from RY Deshpande Comment posted by: RY Deshpande >> Had the Trust gone ahead and swiftly evicted Heehs out…>>
Even now things can be mended to a large extent if the action of eviction is taken by the trustees. Instead, what they are doing is, give him repeatedly certificates of good conduct and of invaluable services rendered by him to the Ashram. Which only means that the full blame for the divide will have to be put at the door of their office. They will have to take the responsibility on them. If they realize that such a divide is contrary to the ideals and practices in the Mother’s work, they should act at least now particularly after the issue having become public. ~ RYD
