The AUM is over, and I have to thank Dave, Lynda, Paula, Bhuvana and everyone else who helped make this powerful experience possible. I am so grateful to have found the integral yoga community, a community so open-minded, warm, and accepting of others, so universalistic. No matter how different we all are, and how diverse our backgrounds, one thing was clear to me at the AUM — everyone in whatever capacity was aspiring for the same thing, the life divine on earth. We were all children of the Mother looking to her for guidance and self-transformation.
I’m very happy to have made so many new friends. Rich Carlson (of the SCIY Blog), Bahman Shirazi (who teaches at the California Institute of Integral Studies) and Charles Flores (who teaches at John F. Kennedy University) all gave me good ideas about where to go academically. Anandi, who had come from Auroville, was just a sweetheart. Sartaj, you will be invited to New York soon for a bhangra bash! (Plus, I love your Sikh pugr!) Prapanna dropped off myself, B (he who has taken the “ill” out of “Bill”), and Rick Thomas to the airport, which was also a fun trip. I spent a few hours at the airport with Rick before leaving, which was great, because we got some alone time and were able to bond over some shared experiences.
I’m now at the East-West Cultural Center in LA, about to start my visit to the IY community in California, and I just stepped into their meditation hall . . . and the presence was palpable. The atmosphere was very still and my mind went quiet of its own accord. Wow! I can’t wait to get to Lodi!
Jai Ma! Jai Sri Aurobindo! See you all at the next AUM!
