The lady principal of the school has been a great source of inspiration for many of us, and is still a crowd puller at all alumni meetings

Great article..I am quite sure there would have been lots of young parents who empthazed with the author. One problem though. Being an alumnus of a school run by the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, I was extremely saddened by the direct reference that the author made to that school and its principal. I am sure, the whole school and its alumni supports me in this. No other school was refered to by name. This was not done in a just spirit. Moreover, it is a well known fact that the school in reference is infact known to be the best in alternate education. The lady known as the principal of the school has been a great source of inspiration for many of us, and is still a crowd puller at all alumni meetings. Please do not take my comments in the wrong sense, it is just the emotions that come rushing when you hear anything about the dear old "alma matar". I felt the direct reference a tad bit rude, especially when no other school was taken by name. But otherwise, a very well composed article! Posted On 4/7/2008 7:59:46 PM

Thank you all so much for all the comments. I just wanted to respond to the last one -- the reason the school run by the Aurobindo Society was mentioned is because that was the playschool (not the nursery or bigger school) in which our family sought haven after traditional education just did not work for us. The principal is referred to in a positive light and my daughter flourished under her care. I think you are confusing the playschool with the other schools in Delhi run by the society, neither of which is directly mentioned in the piece. Thanks for your close reading.
