Sitting in Barclay cabin, Tuesday, noon. The weather has turned cloudy, and some of the peaks are obscured. It has a wonderful alpine feel.
The kirtan last night was very moving. A group from Boulder sang in the rink, as people sat, joined in, swayed, and danced at times. The performers were transported at moments, and the atmosphere was quite deep and moving.
Yesterday I went on a hike with Bill Henson from Boulder, along the creek behind Barclay, and partway up the valley we came upon a beaver pond, with the resident beaver sitting on top of his dam. A lone duck was paddling around in the pond, quite content!
I was at the archery yesterday as well. Our group applied themselves to the sport with singular concentration, goodwill, and growing skill! Shirish Joshi had never picked up a bow before, and he seemed a natural. Thiao, who has done archery before, gave us some tips on aiming and releasing the arrow. It was a meditative physical activity, out in the sun and the wind.
I’ve been impressed by the participation at the AUM, how everyone has pitched in, setting up exhibits, coordinating their events, helping with rides, and answering questions by other AUMers.
