I have more than once suggested science, culture and spirituality - representing the 1) practical/theoretical mind, 2) the aesthetic ethical mind, and 3) the transpersonal planes of mind respectively, without implying a practice or religion. In fact the "supramental" as you say is an ideal, with a particular mystical foundation, so far as anyone I know of can say.Re: A New Name for SCIY? - "SCSC (Science, Culture & Supramental Consciousness)"

I think it is a good idea to give a tag to the web journal projecting cultural-scientific-spiritual-yogic aspects. What we have presently is a list of themes—science, culture, integral yoga—without a proper, I mean an appropriate, name that gives personality and character to the whole thing. It must acquire an identity of its own. I do not very much relish the use of terms such as ‘supramental’, ‘omnipotence’, omniscience’, ‘omnipresence’, etc, etc. Not that we are making them cheap, which is also perhaps true, but that we do not really have any contact with them. So they do not factually convey any sense of realisation of ours to claim their mention. At the best, we have some kind of psychic or intuitive association with them, and that could very well be our strong forte. When Victor Hugo freely used words like ‘eternity’, ‘infinity’ in his poetry, he thought that he was making it mystical or spiritual; but it never was so, if at all the very great attempt simply got dispersed and became ‘facile’, watery. Yeats spoke of ‘Asiatic vagueness’ and was particular to avoid their use in his poetry. Scattering of such high-sounding phrases do not give the warmth and intimacy which can come only with the living spiritual-psychic-mystical experience. Yet the best possible human effort has to be made, must be made and, to make it, this could be a good forum from a certain point of view. Let us first therefore find one single name or phrase that can convey the philosophy we have at the back of our mind. It should be descriptive of our vision, ideal, aspiration, expectation. “Jyoti” itself is a good name. The other could be from Sri Aurobindo’s Gayatri Mantra, ‘The Light of the Supreme’ that is ‘Parasya Jyotih”. But I will avoid both. The name could suggest directly or indirectly something of the new dawn, auroral vision, new future, etc, etc. I would prefer an English word or short phrase rather than Sanskrit or any other language. In any case, with the experience of running the web mag for the past few years, it might be now appropriate to reformulate the principles, the practices, the procedures taking care of various situations. Can we have a prolegomena before we think of the name? These are my preliminary ideas and I may myself revise them. But here they are, if of any use to the members of the forum.
