Ludhiana, August 16 Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management here celebrated the 134th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo yesterday. The college had organised a paper reading contest to mark the occasion. The topics of the contest were related to the life and philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, Indian culture and philosophy, India’s Independence — historical perspective, economic and social transformation of India and India of my dreams.
The secretary of Sri Aurobindo Society, Mr Manmohan Bamba, was the chief guest. Prof V.P. Gaur, former Principal, SCD Government College, Ludhiana was the guest of honour. Dr D.B. Sharma, Director, Sat Paul Mittal School, and Dr Vijay Asdhir, Principal, Kamla Lohtia SD College, were among the other members of the panel of judges. Mr Bamba spoke to the students about Sri Aurobindo’s life and his teachings and about the mother.
Aakansha Verma of B.Com II stood first in the competition; Sahibpreet of B.Com I was declared second; Darshpreet Singh of B.Com I was adjudged third, and one consolation prize was given to Goria Mangla of B.Com II. Dr Prem Kumar appreciated the efforts of the participants and Col P.S. Choudhry, GM (Admn and Edu.), presented the vote of thanks.
