NB: This sonnet was prompted by Oscar Wild’s famous phrase “passion has its dreams” but it is with an entirely different theme with another content and perspective. If “will” belongs to the occult-spiritual realm, “passion” is human with the urge and endeavour to exceed itself. It is these two together that can triumphantly handle formidable difficulties on the desirable path of superior realisations.
From AI Colleague:
The quote “Passion has its dreams” comes from Oscar Wilde’s famous 1890 novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. In the story, the “dreams” of passion refer to the intense, short-lived illusions, idealizations, and romantic fantasies that consume a person when they fall deeply in love or become obsessed with someone or something.
“Life is not governed by will or intention. Life is a question of nerves, and fibres, and slowly built-up cells in which thought hides itself and passion has its dreams.” So, while there is a “will” mentioned, Wilde uses it to emphasize that human willpower is a myth. We do not run our lives with intentions; we are puppeted by our physical senses, memory triggers, and the beautiful, volatile dreams of our passions.

Somerset Maugham, A writer's notebook. I had thought of buying this book. Then I found an old copy, 1949 edition, that belonged to my mother. She was very fond of his short stories...I remember three red bound volumes of them.

Travelling alone teaches us to make our own decisions, face unexpected situations, adapt to changing circumstances, and trust our instincts. More importantly, it teaches us that we don’t always need someone beside us to experience something meaningful. And perhaps the greatest joy lies in discovery — not merely discovering new places, but discovering new dimensions of ourselves.
