Aurobindo Ashram flooded with devotees Chennai Vision News Team
Feb 21, 2008: Hundreds of devotees on Thursday thronged the Sri Aurobindo Ashram at Puducherry on the 130th birth anniversary of 'The Mother'. Devotees from various parts of the country made a beeline to the Ashram to pay tributes at the samadhis of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. A meditation session was organised in front of the samadhis for half an hour from 6 am. Born in France on 21 February, 1878, the Mother (Mirra Alfassa) came to Puducherry in 1920 and coordinated with Sri Aurobindo in the spiritual activities. She passed away on 17 November, 1973 at the age of 95.

Puducherry, Feb 21: Hundreds of devotees on Thursday thronged the Sri Aurobindo Ashram here on the 130th birth anniversary of 'the mother', the spiritual partner of Sri Aurobindo. Devotees from various parts of the country made a beeline to the ashram to pay tributes at the samadhis of Sri Aurobindo and the mother, much ahead of the scheduled time of visit (4.30 am). A meditation session was organised in front of the samadhis for half an hour from 6 am as part of the birth anniversary. The mother (Mirra Alfassa) was born in France on February 21, 1878. She came to Puducherry in 1920 and coordinated with Sri Aurobindo in the spiritual activities. She passed away on November 17, 1973 at the age of 95. Zee News Bureau Report

Thousands of devotees from all over the country and abroad thronged the Sri Aurobindo Ashram here to pay homage to the Mother, a leading disciple of Sri Aurobindo on the occasion of her 130th birth anniversary today.
A special mass meditation was organised by the Ashramites on the occasion.
The rooms used by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother were thrown open for public darshan today in connection with the celebrations. -- (UNI) -- Home
