Partho has spent twenty years in the field of Sri Aurobindo's Integral yoga and Integral education. He has conducted workshops and retreats on Vedanta, Savitri, Integral Education, as well as self actualisation, personal excellence and leadership in India, Europe and the United States. He has written articles and books on these topics and is currently writing a book on the application of Vedantic practices in contemporary life and work. Partho was deeply influenced by the tradition of Advaita vedanta, joined the Sri Aurobindo ashram in Delhi at the age of 26 and became the director of Mirambika Free Progress School, an experimental educational unit of the Sri Aurobindo Education Society, New Delhi. Hers is a story of faith; of aspiration and complete surrender at the Feet of the One whose writings had kindled her latent seeking of the Unknown. She has been defined as “mysterious”; she was the eldest daughter of one of the most influential and powerful persons of the world and was good-looking and elegant and admired by many; yet she kept behind her past, her family and friends for the sake of the One on whom she had unshakeable and impregnable faith. And she herself was the embodiment of faith. She is Margaret Woodrow Wilson who was given the name of Nishtha by Sri Aurobindo...

In 1936, Margaret came across Sri Aurobindo’s Essays on the Gita in the New York City Public Library. She sat down in the main reading room of the library and became so engrossed that she lost sense of time and a guard had to tell her that the library was closing. She returned on the following day and by the time she had finished reading the book, she realized that she had found her path, her ‘missing aim’ which she had been searching throughout her life and above all, her Guru. She wrote to Sri Aurobindo and expressed her wish to practise the Integral Yoga and asked him the nature of the discipline followed to convert ‘mental seeking into a living spiritual experience’. Sri Aurobindo wrote a long letter to her in September 1936 which is quoted below:

“To find the Divine is indeed the first reason for seeking the spiritual Truth and the spiritual life, it is the one thing indispensable and all the rest is nothing without it. The Divine once found, to manifest Him,—that is, first of all to transform one’s own limited consciousness into the Divine Consciousness, to live in the infinite Peace, Light, Love, Strength, Bliss to become that in one’s essential nature and, as a consequence, to be its vessel, channel, instrument in one’s active nature. Gebser’s structures of consciousness, from archaic to integral, and the third a combination of the research of Michael Commons and Francis Richard, Jean Piaget (developmental psychologists), and Sri Aurobindo (a spiritual sage), that outline a cognitive/spiritual development of mind from sensorimotor to symbolic to rational to cross-paradigmatic to the transpersonal realms of Illumined Mind, Intuitive Mind, Overmind, and Supermind (these existing above the integral perspective). Without having to delve into the specific qualities of each, which one might well do as part of an integral practice, one can see the same general development from bodily to spiritual ways of knowing, from lesser to greater complexity, and from a limited to more expansive viewpoint. Personal development and worldviews in this map unfold in the same fashion, from egocentric (narcissistic self-absorption) to ethnocentric (a larger view of self-identity that includes family, faith group, race, or nation) to worldcentric (an even larger view that embraces all people regardless of race, creed, gender, class, or sexual orientation) to kosmocentric (identification with all life and consciousness). Thousands of devotees from all over the country and abroad thronged the Sri Aurobindo Ashram to observe the 35th death anniversary of " the mother" a leading disciple of Sri Aurobindo, here today.
A mass meditation was organised by inmates of the Ashram to mark the occasion.

Mother Divine, grant that today may bring to us a completer consecration to Thy Will, a more integral gift of ourselves to Thy work, a more total forgetfulness of self, a greater illumination, a purer love. Grant that in a communion growing ever deeper, more constant and entire, we may be united always more and more closely to Thee and become Thy servitors worthy of Thee. Remove from us all egoism, root out all petty vanity, greed and obscurity. May we be all ablaze with Thy divine Love; make us Thy torches in the world.
