Youth Conference - 16th August
An Youth Conference was organized by Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore, on Sunday, 16th August 2015 where young people participated from areas like Purulia, Durgapur, Howrah (Jhikira, Shibpur and Hiraganj), Hooghly (Uttarpara and Chandannagore), South 24 Parganas (Mala, Dalanghata, Batanagar & Diamond Harbour) apart from Kolkata.
Resource persons like Sri Biswajit Gangopadhyay (Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata), Sri Subrata Sen (Secretary, Sri Aurobindo's Action West Bengal), Dr. Rabindra Nath Ghosh, Dr. Kumar Kaustubha Ray, Smt. Ishani Chatterjee and Sri Anurag Banerjee (Chairman, Overman Foundation) deliberated in front of youth delegates and eminent guests like Prof. Supriyo Bhattacharya (eminent Aurobindonian and Professor, Kalyani University), Sri Bama Prasad Puitandy (Managing Trustee, Sri Aurobindo Kendra, Purulia) and Sri Sanjay Bhattacharya (Chairman, Chandannagore BCG Association).
Topics covered included how to keep free from stress in work, basic health issues in day to day life, depression and its remedies, complexities in relationships, the relevance of Sri Aurobindo today and taking up research work on Sri Aurobindo as a profession. The youth delegates participated in question answer sessions as well as an open session. They also interacted with the resource persons informally during breaks. Summing up at the end was done by Sri Gautam Banerjee who was present as Observerfor the Conference.
Visit of Sri Ramachandra Das - 19th August
Sri Ramachandra Das, Chairman of Sri Aurobindo Yoga Mandir, Nepal, having three centres at Kathmandu, Nawalparsi (Terai) and Gulmi visited Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore, on 19th August 2015.
Sri Ramachandra Das went around the School Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir and the Library and was briefed on the activities at the Centre. In the evening, he gave a talk to those assembled narrating experiences of his life and works in Pondicherry and at present in Nepal. The experiences of Sri Das are extraordinary, graceful and full of spiritual adventure with trust, perseverence, unbelievable tenacity, tremendous struggle, confidence and surrender to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
Independence Day & Sri Aurobindo Jayanti
Independence Day and Sri Aurobindo Jayanti was celebrated with due solemnity and enthusiasm on Saturday, 15th August, 2015.
As a part of the celebrations, a drawing and colouring competition was held among the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir on 14th August. Prizes for first and second positions shall be announced in the four categories of Nursery A, Nursery B, KG-I and KG-II.
The celebrations on the day of 15th August commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag at 8.00 a.m. by Smt. Chitra Bose, Principal, Secretary and Managing Trustee. Students of the School participated in patriotic songs in chorus. Those present were given refreshments. The second part of the celebrations commenced with the Jayanti Meditation session from 10.00 to 10.15 a.m. at the Shrine. This was followed by a session of devotional songs by eminent singer Smt. Nupurchhanda Ghosh who enthralled the audience with an hour of devotional and patriotic songs. Prasad was served to over 300 guests and staff of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir and Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre Trust. The entire proceedings were managed and co-ordinated to run smoothly by the tireless efforts of the workers of the Institution.
Shrimat Anirvan Memorial Oration by Prof. Supriyo Bhattacharya - 8th July
The inaugural “Shrimat Anirvan Memorial Oration” organized by Overman Foundation in collaboration with Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre Trust was held on Wednesday, 8 July 2015, at 6.30 p.m. to commemorate the 119th Birth Anniversary of the great scholar and philosopher Shrimat Anirvan. The theme of the memorial oration was Shrimat Anirvan on Education and the lecture was delivered by Prof. Supriyo Bhattacharya presently Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Kalyani. He is engaged in studies on Sri Aurobindo, Rabindranath Tagore and Shrimat Anirvan and has been connected with research work in various projects associated with Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy in Kolkata and at Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry, gives talks and writes on different aspects of Sri Aurobindo’s vision. A recipient of the prestigious “Sri Aurobindo Puraskar” from Sri Aurobindo Bhavan, Kolkata, he was elected Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland in June 2007. He has been the Editor of Srinvantu (a Bengali and English magazine devoted to the cause of propagation of the ideas of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother). The deliberation was attended by an audience at the Sakti Centre and recent books by Shrimat Anirvan published in English and Bengali were also available for sale on the said occasion.
Sri Ma Jayanti celebrated - 21st February
Sri Ma Jayanti (Mother's Birthday) was observed at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre and Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir, New Alipore on Saturday, 21st February 2015.
From 9.00 a.m., "Sishu Utsav" or Children's Festival was held for the students of Sri Aurobindo Bal Mandir where they received gifts and chocolates with their guardians paying respects to The Mother at the shrine.
The afternoon session began at 4.00 p.m. with meditation at the shrine followed thereafter by cutting of Mother's Birthday Cake by Smt. Chitra Bose, Managing Trustee. In the programme which began from 5.30 p.m., the distribution of prizes to students for the academic session 2014 was done by the Special Guest Smt. Bonhishikha Sarkar, Principal, The New Horizon High School. Eight of the staff and sub-staff members who were not absent at all during the year 2014 were awarded prizes too for zero absenteeism. Guests Smt. Bonhishikha Sarkar and eminent choreographer Sri Aditya Mitra inaugurated and exhibition of Art & Craft by students of our Art Section.
There was a session of devotional songs by eminent singer Smt. Shikha Basu followed thereafter by an excellent violin recital by Sri Salil Brahmachari accompanied by Sri Sudip Chatterjee on the tabla. Prasad was distributed to assembled guests, devotees and present prize recipient children with their guardians.
The Exhibition of the works of the students of the Art Section of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre was seen by guests and guardians of the Art Section who visited on Sunday, 22nd February. A small display of publications on Sri Aurobindo & The Mother was done by Sri Aurobindo's Action - West Bengal which was visited by eager guests.
Sri Aurobindo Book Exhibition - 8th February
An exhibition of books on Aurobindonian thoughts titled SRI AUROBINDO PUSTAK PRADARSHANI was organized at Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore, Kolkata, as a joint effort of Overman Foundation, Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre (New Alipore, Kolkata) and the Publication Cell of Sri Aurobindo's Action - West Bengal Chapter. The aim of this exhibition was to display and enable public to browse through and collect publications - books and magazines published by Sri Aurobindo Centres of West Bengal which are not generally available at showrooms and shops.

The Book exhibition inaugurated by Sri Biswajit Gangopadhyay, Managing Member at Sri Aurobindo Bhavan - Kolkata in the presence of Smt. Chitra Bose, Managing Trustee of Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore was visited throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. by book loving devotees and well wishers.
