A BOUT DE SOUFFLE (BREATHLESS) - Directed by Jean-Luc GODARD, France, 1959
With: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jean Seberg, Van Doude, Daniel Boulanger…
Synopsis: A fairly simple story where Belmondo is ideally cast as a Parisian small-time hood, who casually kills a policeman while going to Paris. In Paris he tries to convince his girlfriend Patricia, an American student, to leave with him to Italy… First feature directed by J.L. Godard and one of the films introducing the French “New Wave” in the late 1950s, A bout de Souffle also established the director’s international reputation. The script was written by François Truffaut –based on a reel short news item of 1952– and further its immediate success became a reference (internationally) from this creative period. Original French version with English subtitles - Black & White - 1h.30’. - A 35mm film projection in collaboration with the Embassy of France, Delhi.
