Pondy crafts are here: The Pondicherry Pudumai Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative society is back in the city this year with a handicrafts expo on Ganesh Darshan at Sankara Hall, Alwarpet. More than 100 models of Vinayagar, made of clay and paper mesh and stone carvings were on display at the exhibition, including artistic leather crafts, crochet items, marbling printing items, clay toys and dolls for children.
Auroville based handicraft products attracted the attention of the visitors as a variety of new kind of products were displayed including aromatic candle with a fragrance of jasmine, lily, lavender and rose. The candles were supposed to reduce stress and tension. The other products that were displayed include dry flower articles, hand made paper products, precious and semi precious gem stoned and ceramic pottery items. The 13 days expo was inaugurated by P Sundaramurthi, Regional Director, Handicrafts Development Commissioner, Chennai in the presence of V K Munusamy, president, Pudumai Handicrafts Artisans Cooperative society. newstodaynet.com
